Every resident who owns a dog must license the dog through the city of Royal Oak beginning at 6 months of age. Pet owners must provide a current rabies vaccination certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian to obtain a license. Proof of spay/neuter must be provided to receive the discount.
Licenses purchased online may be paid with Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card or American Express.

There is a processing fee of 3.0% with a minimum of $2.95 to use a debit/credit card.

Licenses will be mailed USPS.

Licensing Fees Effective July 1, 2013

By ordinance, licenses must expire at the same time as the rabies vaccination.

30 - 36 months 3 years $20 $40

There is a late fee of $20 if a license is not renewed within 30 calendar days of expiration. The late fee does not apply to new residents or new pets if the license is obtained within 30 days of moving into the city or adoption of the pet.

Senior residents (60+) receive a $2 discount.
