2025 Royal Oak Artist Laureate Application

The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts is searching for the city's third Artist Laureate!

The Royal Oak Artist Laureate program is designed to acknowledge and recognize the work and contributions of a local artist.

The chosen artist will receive a stipend and a one-year commitment for exposure and community support for the work they do. In return, the artist will be expected to represent the creative community at local events and complete a public art project.

The Mission

This program provides the community-at-large new art to enjoy, greater exposure to the impact of art and artistic expression in the community, and inspiration for their own creative endeavors.

The City of Royal Oak remains steadfast in its support for encouraging art and culture within the community and this is another opportunity for the city to partner with the arts community. The first two Artist Laureates were a sculptor and a poet, so applicants should aim to set themselves apart. Artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Applicants must be a resident or employee within the City of Royal Oak. The Commission for the Arts will review applications in November, and announce its third Artist Laureate in December/January.
